Saare Tin Aat Hopon (Three and a Half Cubits of Dream) is Smriti Kumar Sinha’s second Bishnupriya Manipuri short-story collection. It contains nine stories and was published by the Amarmanu Foundation, India, in 2005. The stories are Gaas Matir Sol, Mandila, Guruni, Dashamik Bhagnangsho, Janaganamana, Adhunik Kabir Githanok, Mora Gaator Maach, Pata Ahanor Mahabharat and the title story, Saare Tin Aat Hopon. The book belongs to Sinha’s larger project. He has said he set out to revive his endangered mother tongue by producing literature equal to that of other Indian regional languages, drawing his plots from Bishnupriya Manipuri folk beliefs, folklore and culture. One story from this volume later travelled well beyond the community. “Fish of a Dead River” (Mora Gaator Maach), in Subhojit Bhadra’s translation, appeared in the Sahitya Akademi’s journal Indian Literature.
